Shakespeare and the Eels had the Right Idea Sonnet

Day 14 of PAD was to write a sonnet… this one is what I came up with.

Shakespeare and the Eels had the right idea
love is not outrightly beautiful
it is sublime when it lasts forever
it is not apparently aesthetic.
Our souls, born to be bright and glow with love
have been clouded for much too long, but then
came the breeze of change which so chilled my bones.
You took me in your arms and grasped me tightly.
And the wind blew the nebula from our minds.
The journey remains treacherous and mean
but finally my heart is emboldened.
We can, knowing your hurt and you knowing mine

share our life, if only for a short time.
But if Shakespeare is right, it will be more.

(yes, it doesn’t reallllly follow the rules, but it’s something.)
